Unlike lightweight alternatives, this plate is purposefully designed to weigh nearly twice as much as the factory unit (3.0 vs. 1.7lbs), increasing shifter inertia for smoother, more-confident motion between gears.

VERY noticeable shift feel! Make this a first upgrade. You will notice a definite difference mealy.
High quality build. Installation was very straight forward. Shifts like a new car. Subaru should have done this from the factory.

Quick and speedy delivery. Hefty part compared to stock, we easy to install. The only pain was the removal of the top bolt on the cover prior to installing it. Make sure you use a long 3/16 punch to remove the roll pin, it has an inner and outer part of the roll pin. There is a good install video on YouTube by Overtake, view it before doing the upgrade
Build quality is awesome for starters. The shifts are reduced in the best of ways. I’ve had other short shift kits in previous cars that always ended up being too short for my taste. This one definitely kills the row boat feel in VB. It’s the perfect throw in my opinion.

Does this fit under the oem dust cover shield thing, or does that have to be removed?
Hey Sam! We have ours removed on both shop cars. The factory cover can be re-installed, but it would require trimming to get it to fit properly.
Hello, will this kit fit a 2010 Legacy 2.5 GT?
We have not been able to confirm this fitment for ourselves, but I don't believe there will be any issues fitting one of these up on a 2010-12 Legacy GT.
My 2020 WRX has the performance package with STI short shifter upgrade. Will this shift plate still offer a benefit? My shifter already feels pretty good to me.
Great question Fred! You can definitely combo the two, just like we have in our shop VA WRX. The factory short shifter has to do with the shifter assembly itself, while our shift plate shortens the throw at the transmission. Adding the plate in addition to your current upgrade will make your shift even shorter than it currently is, as well as more-crisp, given the [deliberately] heavier weight of our plate. My 2018 wrx has the optional sti short throw from the dealer. Will this work with that option?
