The factory driveshaft carrier is held together with soft rubber bushings that flex, compress, and degrade over time. Under hard acceleration, this allows the driveshaft to move out of alignment, wasting energy and creating that unsettling "slop" in the drivetrain. The Details: Every time you get hard on the throttle, your driveshaft is fighting against soft factory rubber that was designed for comfort, not performance. That rubber allows the carrier bearing to shift and flex, which throws off driveshaft alignment and robs you of clean power delivery. Another great product by the OVERTAKE team! This driveshaft lockdown kit helps secure the soft rubber bearing making the throttle feel and slop disappear. Paired with the carrier bushings makes it even better!
Wasn't quite sure I was expecting with this but it was worth every penny. Install was straightforward, just make sure the upper section isn't pressed up against the body bracket (it was close on my 2017 VA STi). This definitely made acceleration and deceleration smoother and I didn't realize how much slop I was used to driving with.

This thing completely eliminates that 1-2 gear jerking when speeding up! More firm power from the wheels!
The lockdown and bushing surprisingly did not add much NVH from what I noticed so far. However, this probably due to the amount drivetrain modifications I already have installed. So may have some on unmodified vehicles. They were the final piece to the puzzle increased throttle response and torque is far noticeably than before.

Took out the low speed jerking the does around 5-10 mph.
Installed recently on a 12 wrx, I have already had every other drivetrain bracing installed, those helped but this is the Cherry on top. The car feels so much more stable under low throttle and shifting. Awesome job Overtake.

Transforms the VB from a loose, wet noodle of a driveline, to a solid, performance oriented system. You will notoce the difference.
An immediate difference. No more jerkiness from not hitting the shifts just right going from 1st to 2nd. Easy install, and I definitely recommended
I'd always been wondering what the "thunk" was when shifting from a standstill, had no idea there was that much flex in the OEM driveshaft.
The lockdown kit took care of that immediately, getting to about 2 weeks of daily driving and haven't noticed much noise increase with a Borla S-type, car feels more solid now shifting into 1st and the notorious clunking is gone, definitely recommend this to every 86/BRZ owner out there alongside the carrier bushings.
I was a little skeptical that these would do anything, but I am a sucker for “feel” mods that help dial in the car. After putting this and the carrier bushings on, the driveline is smoother on throttle input, and especially during gear changes. It’s subtle, but it just makes the driveline feel a little more solid. I had to wait a few weeks for machining, but it was well worth it.
Amazing quality
How necessary is it to remove the exhaust on a 2019 WRX. Michigan winters and the salt/rust tend to seize bolts. Just curious if it’s a must or just recommended to have more room to work.
Hey Derek! Being here in Minnesota, we completely understand. I certainly can be done with the cat back still installed, but it is certainly a bit tight. I would maybe suggest removing it from the hangers and drop it out of the way a bit.

I have a 1 piece carbon carbon fiber drive shaft (Driveshaft shop). Would this fit, and would you recommend this product, or is it for stock driveshafts only?
Great question! Our driveshaft lockdown kit is meant to work with only the factory two piece driveshaft. Essentially, this mod gives you as close to a feel of a one piece driveshaft as possible. Let us know if you have any other questions!
