Greatly Improves Clutch Engagement Point Predictability | OVERTAKE Clutch Delay Valve Delete
From the factory, Subaru has included a delay valve in the slave cylinder on all manual Subaru performance models since 2006. This valve is great for those who are new to driving a manual transmission as it adds a layer of forgiveness if you let the clutch pedal out too quickly, however, the valve also blurs the engagement point of the clutch which makes it frustrating and unpredictable to get going from a stop.
Thankfully, getting rid of the factory delay valve is extremely straight forward, only taking 30 minutes or so. Replacing the valve assembly and spring with an OVERTAKE Subaru Clutch Delay Valve Delete makes for consistent and predictable clutch engagement. This increased control gives your left foot 1:1 control over the clutch, connecting you directly to the way that your drivetrain handles, greatly improving the driving experience.
This more direct clutch control also comes with another benefit - longer clutch life. The factory delay valve essentially allows the clutch to slip more than is necessary, which causes excessive clutch wear and premature failure. Now you will be in full control of the amount of slip that your clutch sees.

Overall, super easy install. I had already swapped out the clutch return spring for a GKtech 86 spring. Paired with the delay valve delete it honest to god feels like what the clutch should have been from factory. The feeling of the engagement is far superior from when I first bought the car.

100% yes. Subaru should have built the WRX like this stock. I can definitely feel a more responsive, faster, more visceral clutch engagement. It feels like a real clutch and not so springy, slow and unresponsive. The job is very easy after you get your top mount intercooler removed. This will give you an immediate, noticeable difference in your clutch and driving. Best $40 upgrade so far!
I had been looking at the delay valve for a while and finally decided to make the purchase. I was concerned about having to bleed my clutch system until Owen showed how simple it was in the Overtake installation video. I used an adjustable wrench (and a cheater bar initially) to get the old 24mm hex out. Don't forget a rag underneath to catch the bit of fluid that falls. A pick and a small screwdriver were very helpful in getting out the spring and baffles. I can't believe how much better my clutch feels. No more wandering engagement point! I can actually predictably catch every time now! I was skeptical at how big of a difference a simple block off plug can make, but it was definitely worth it. I just wish I had gotten it sooner!
What a massive difference this makes! I thought I was going crazy with how inconsistent my clutch was acting, and after hearing about this and installing it, it's how it SHOULD be. This is an absolute must have!

Simple easy install. Noticeable improvement in clutch engagement. For under $50 delivered, this is likely one of the best upgrades that I did to my 2018 WRX 50th. Honestly, wish I would have known about this upgrade on my 2 previous legacy gt models which always both had a weird clutch feel.

Wow. Makes clutch so much smoother. I can tell exactly where the bite point is. Maybe 1 or 2 hour install with bleeding the line on my STI transmission. Cheap upgrade I didnt know I needed.
Picked up (2) of these for the 07 and 08 (WRX and STI, respectively) and wow, talk about a world of difference! Clutch engagement is much cleaner and the responsiveness is very noticeable.
This is one of those "I'll believe it when I see it" mods. You don't realize how spongy the clutch is until you add the delay delete. Very well made and good looking part. Easy install with the awesome how to video for each part.
