The stock turbo heat shield does its job, but it's designed around the OEM downpipe. Swap that pipe and the factory shield either won't clear or has to be butchered to fit. The OVERTAKE EJ Turbo Heatshield, engineered for the WRX, STI, Forester XT, Outback XT, and Legacy GT, solves this with 304 stainless steel construction, CNC-formed to fit OEM and most aftermarket downpipes without cutting, drilling, or compromising coverage. Grade 10.9 hardware is included so you're not reusing stressed fasteners. Factory should have built it this way.

The Details:
The EJ-series turbo runs hot, and in stock form the heat shield is shaped around the OEM downpipe. Once you go aftermarket, that clearance disappears and most people ditch the shield entirely, leaving the turbo's exhaust housing radiating heat directly toward the intercooler. On a hot day or during hard use, that radiant heat raises charge air temperatures and costs you power when you want it most. The Overtake Turbo Heatshield is CNC-formed from 304 stainless, shaped to wrap the turbo housing properly while clearing the wider profiles on popular aftermarket downpipes. The brushed finish resists corrosion and holds up in the underhood environment without peeling or flaking. Grade 10.9 hardware is in the box so you're installing with proper fasteners from the start. Solid heat shield. I opened the box and saw some protective plastic film on it and thought “Ooh, this will be satisfying to peel off.” Boy was I wrong. What is the opposite of the satisfying feeling of peeling off protective film? Because this is it. It comes off in tiny pieces and leaves a sticky residue. It took me longer to peel off the film than install the heat shield.
Way better than stock I am so pleased with the ease of the install and it looks amazing compared to the stock one. Well done.
Easy to install excellent quality love the look and really bring the engine bay look I am going for. Loving the Overtake products.
Struggled with the bolts and dealing with my AOS being in the way, but I got it installed! Took 4 hours becausw the turbo shield bolts were all bad.
The best thing to keep heat out of the TMIC.
This heat shield is made really well and looks far better than any other I have used/seen.The fit is spot on and it is a great addition to the engine bay while also helping keep heat away from the intercooler and radiating into the engine bay.
