What Is Wrong With the Factory Post MAF Pipe?
The post MAF pipe is the stretch of plumbing between your airbox and your turbo inlet. Every bit of air the turbo asks for comes through it, after the MAF sensor has already measured it. It is also the last place in the intake tract most people think to look.
Subaru designs that pipe around two things that have nothing to do with airflow. The first is assembly. A pipe that flexes drops onto the line faster than one that does not. The second is noise. Intake noise is a complaint on a car sold to a broad audience, so it gets engineered out before it reaches the cabin.
Both goals get met with hardware that sits directly in the air path.
On the 2022-2026 WRX, the factory pipe has two large corrugated sections plus a row of resonator pockets, and the bends between them are abrupt enough to act as choke points on their own.
On the 2015-2021 WRX and 2014-2018 Forester XT, the elbow is a solid molded piece with no corrugation, because the couplers at each end carry the flex. The resonator pockets are still there, molded into the wall. On this generation, the pockets are the whole story.
None of that is Subaru getting it wrong. It is Subaru answering a different question than the one you are asking.
What OVERTAKE Changed
Both parts are built around the same piece: a molded ABS elbow with a smooth interior wall and a consistent radius through the bend. Heat resistant, finished on the outside so it reads as something that could have shipped on the car, with the OVERTAKE branding molded in rather than stuck on.
Both also include a matte black powder coated stainless steel bracket that picks up the factory mounting point. That matters more than it sounds. Without it the pipe rides on the couplers alone, which is how aftermarket intake plumbing ends up rubbing on something a few thousand miles later.
The 2022-2026 WRX: Post MAF Pipe Kit
On the VB, the whole run gets replaced. The kit is the ABS elbow plus two 5-ply silicone couplers, steel wire reinforced so they hold their shape under vacuum instead of pulling closed on you. The couplers are stepped, which smooths the transition between each segment rather than leaving a lip for the air to trip over. Stainless hose clamps, the mounting bracket, and two mounting bolts are in the box.
It replaces Subaru part numbers 46011VC000 and 46013VC010, and it retains the federally mandated hydrocarbon filter element that lives in the 2022+ airbox.
The 2015-2021 WRX and 2014-2018 Forester XT: Post MAF Hose Elbow
On the VA, the factory couplers are already doing their job. The obstruction is the molded elbow between them, so that is the only thing OVERTAKE replaces. You get the elbow, the bracket, and two mounting bolts. No silicone in the box, because you do not need it.
That is also why this one is sold as a single part rather than a kit. If you are already running the OVERTAKE Post MAF Intake Hose Kit on your VA, the new elbow drops straight in between the hoses you already have and finishes the run. If you are still on factory couplers and clamps, it works there too.

Where Does This Sit in Your Intake?
Air comes through the panel filter, into the airbox, past the MAF sensor, down the post MAF pipe, and into the turbo inlet. Four things in a row, and most people upgrade the first and the last and leave the middle alone.
If you are working the whole tract, the post MAF plumbing pairs naturally with a washable panel filter on the airbox side, either the Maxx Flo filter for the 2022-2026 WRX or the Maxx Flo filter that covers the 2015-2021 WRX and Forester XT. On the turbo side, an OVERTAKE aluminum turbo inlet is the next piece in line, and there is one for each of these chassis.
None of that is required. Both post MAF parts work on their own with a completely stock airbox and a factory paper filter. It is just worth knowing where the piece you are buying actually sits.
It Will Be Louder. That Is the Trade.
Both parts remove the resonator pockets, and the resonator pockets are what keep intake noise out of your cabin. Expect the car to be louder than stock on intake.
Whether that is a feature or a problem is entirely about you. Most people shopping for post MAF plumbing on a WRX consider it a feature and would pay for it separately. If your car is a quiet highway commuter and you like it that way, this is the one honest reason to skip both parts. Nothing else about the install changes how the car behaves day to day.

How Long Does the Install Take?

Do I need a tune after installing this?
No. Both parts keep the factory airbox and the factory MAF sensor housing in place. The MAF is reading air in the same housing it always did, so there is nothing for the tune to compensate for. If your car is stock it stays stock, and if it is tuned your existing map is still valid.
Will the Post MAF Hose Elbow work with the OVERTAKE Post MAF Intake Hose Kit?
Yes, and that pairing is the reason the elbow is sold on its own.
